The most up-and-coming area since Esentepe is the vast 30km coastline of Akdeniz, beginning with Morphou Bay on the outskirts of Guzelyurt. Guzelyurt is the fourth largest village in Northern Cyprus, and the most affluent which can be seen in its green parks, attractive villas, and miles of citrus fields.
The area of Guzelyurt is home to three major international universities, a selection of ancient ruins and archeological treasures, a bustling village center, and miles of beaches and seafront restaurants. Additionally, a seafront Golf Course is a lovely feature, as is the proximity to Troodos Mountain Ski resorts only 20 minutes away. The new border crossing 10 minutes away allows access to the whole island, as well as a choice of airports such as Paphos International Airport.
The area has been marked as “the Showcase Development area” of North Cyprus. Due to the beauty of the area, the nearby Ski Resort and fabulous 30km+ beach that at the moment is undiscovered, the Government has major plans to drive tourism to the area. The government’s commitment to the area is proven by current improvement in infrastructure and the offering of grants and tax breaks for tourism based projects. Some of the tourism plans include a proposal for a new cruise Liner Port, 2 Golf Courses and 18 hotels are at tender stage. |
